The Last Station - Out Now

The Last Station is the story of the final year in the life of the Russian writer and philosopher Leo Tolstoy. Based on the biographical novel by Jay Parini, the film describes the turbulent events in his relationship with his devoted wife, Sofya, whose life is turned upside down by her husband’s complicating new revelations. She battles with his trusted disciple, Chertkov, who is secretly convincing Tolstoy of what to do with his works and his glorious legacy. Into the fray steps the worshipful new assistant, Valentin, a young gullible pawn used by both parties to undermine the other’s gains, but he has his own compelling and confusing relationship to fathom as he strives to understand the complications of love in the real world.
