Corrine Day

Last week brought with it the sad news that Corrine Day, one of her generation’s most talented photographers, passed away aged 48.

Her controversial photographs of a young Kate Moss heralded a new era of fashion photography, a move away from high-octane aspiration towards brutally honest documentary style shots that captured the spirit of youth culture and inspired a new generation of photographers.

While Corrine Day may well have pushed the boundaries of ‘acceptable’ with her often uncomfortable photographs, perhaps her greatest contribution, and lasting legacy, will be bringing fashion down to earth; and we should all be grateful for that.
